P&O Cruises are now cancelled until early 2021, it was revealed today in the latest cruise news. The cruise line has been forced to repeatedly extend its pause in operations throughout the coronavirus pandemic. In its latest update, P&O Cruises said some cruises will not start until the end of January 2021 and others until March.
P&O Cruises said in a statement that all Caribbean cruises are cancelled until the end of January 2021.
All cruises from and to Southampton are cancelled through February.
Also axed are Arcadia and Aurora, which have already been cut through to the end of their spring world cruises.
Anyone whose cruise holiday has been cancelled will be contacted by P&O Cruises.
Holidaymakers can opt for a full refund or receive enhanced credit towards a future holiday.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “With evolving restrictions on travel from the UK, unfortunately, it is necessary to cancel these itineraries.
“These further cancellations vary according to ship as well as complexity and length of itineraries, advice and guidance regarding ports of call and current air availability for fly/cruises.
“We are continuing to monitor the overall situation closely and will certainly reintroduce cruises should the opportunity arise and it is feasible to do so.”
Ludlow explained that P&O Cruises is working with several of the “most brilliant minds in science as well as government at the highest level” on the approved and enhanced health protocols.
These will be in place once the company resumes sailing.
The cruise line president continued: “Whilst adherence to the protocols on board and ongoing vigilance will be critical, this will always be coupled with providing the well-deserved and memorable holidays for which we are known, with all the standout moments on board and experiences on shore.
“This is what we have always done and will continue to do.”
Ludlow concluded: “We cannot wait for restrictions to ease, borders to open and for us to once again be able to set sail for a new beginning.”
All guests with bookings on a cancelled cruise will be notified.
They will automatically receive an enhanced 125 percent Future Cruise Credit.
Alternatively, holidaymakers can get a 100 percent refund by filling out a web form.
The current UK government advice on cruise holidays is as follows: “The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises against cruise ship travel at this time. This is due to the ongoing pandemic and is based on medical advice from Public Health England.
“Cruise ship travel means staying overnight for at least one night on a sea-going cruise ship with people from multiple households.
“Our advice against cruises applies to international travel on a ship that is exclusively for pleasure or recreation, providing overnight accommodation and other leisure facilities such as entertainment venues or swimming pools.
“Our advice does not include ferries or privately-rented boats.
“The government will continue to review its cruise ship travel advice based on the latest medical advice.”
