Air Canada will begin offering NDC content within Amadeus, under a newly expanded distribution agreement.
Amadeus is the first of the three major GDSs with which Air Canada has come to such an agreement. With NDC, airlines have the capability of offering dynamic and personalized pricing in the travel agency channel.
The content will be displayed on the Amadeus Travel Platform using Amadeus’ NDC solution, called Altea.
“Now agencies and travel buyers will have access to our most complete range of content and be well-equipped for the introduction of new products and capabilities,” said Mark Nasr, Air Canada’s senior vice president of products, marketing and e-commerce. “For buyers and travelers, this means their preferred agency, whether a local independent or large travel management provider, will be able to offer a broader range of rich Air Canada content, travel options and services via the Amadeus Travel Platform at the most competitive prices.”

Air Canada said it will also continue to offer content through Amadeus via legacy Edifact GDS technology.
The airline did not say when Amadeus would go live with its NDC content. The announcement also was light on details in terms of the quantity and types of NDC content that the airline will make available to the GDS. More details will be provided as part of a major Air Canada NDC announcement on April 19, the carrier said.
