Hotel stays see guests being looked after and treated as they escape from their home life for a brief while. Now there’s even more reason to look into a UK hotel staycation. A number of hotels are currently participating in new scheme #SleepOverToHelpTurnover.
Much like restaurant scheme Eat Out to Help Out, the initiative aims to help the hotel industry recover while offering Britons the chance to enjoy bargain breaks.
#SleepOverToHelpTurnover has been launched by hospitality professional association HOSPA.
“To help counteract [recent rule changes] and to sustain recovery, HOSPA, supported by our members and partners, has launched the #SleepOverToHelpTurnover scheme, which is aimed at boosting hotels and their ancillary support businesses, as we look to maintain the industry’s rebuilding process,” said the association in a statement.
The scheme seeks to encourage hoteliers to incentivise potential guests by offering discounts or extras.
These can range from supplementary meals, additional nights and bottles of wine to free WiFi upgrades, complimentary parking and half-price cocktails.
This would reward those who engage with the scheme and display their support for the hospitality industry.
Samantha Williams, UK Market Owner at Profitroom, a leading SaaS supplier to the hospitality industry that focuses on enhancing hotel revenues, said: “In recent weeks we’ve seen extremely encouraging signs of recovery across the industry, especially in coastal resorts and popular tourist destinations such as the Lake District.
“This has been boosted further by the #EatOutToHelpOut scheme.
“However, this was focused on eateries – but now we’re hoping to generate a boost for hoteliers too.
“Many hotels, especially those in city centres, are really struggling – with the latest rules adding further burdens.
“By supporting #SleepOverToHelpTurnover, members of the public will help hotels carry on as they move into a traditionally quieter period, further aiding them in their recovery and providing a vital boost to the economy.”
Hotels are being encouraged to participate and a number have already signed up.
