Summer may be over but that doesn't mean Brits can't enjoy a cheap and cheerful getaway in the sun this winter.

While most of the hot and sunny destinations tend to be in far-flung hotspots like the Caribbean, the good news is there's one European party town where you can still enjoy balmy weather – and the pints are cheap too.

In fact, Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife has long been a hit with holidaymakers, and according to dealchecker research it's one of the cheapest cities for beer, with pints available for £1.60. The former fishing village may not be quite as rowdy as other parts of the island, but you can still find plenty of cocktail bars, breweries and pubs for those sunset drinks.

Meanwhile in November you can expect temperatures of up to 23C making for ideal conditions to go exploring the black sand beaches, take a walk along the promenade or bask in the last of the sunshine before winter truly makes an appearance. (Not to mention the fresh air and walk can help cure some of those hangovers!).

After all, the Canary Islands are regularly tipped as some of the best winter sun spots for Brits who don't want to break the bank – and you can find plenty of packages with the likes of easyJet, Jet2, TUI and Loveholidays. If you're looking to book flights and hotels separately, when we took a look we could find flights from £35 on Skyscanner while Kayak had hotel stays also from £35.

While November does fall in the off-peak season, because the islands are still popular there are plenty of bars, clubs and attractions that remain open, so you won't be stuck twiddling your thumbs. However it's worth noting that because Puerto de la Cruz sits in the northern part of the island, you can get some occasionally rainy days – so pack a light jacket just in case!

Puerto de la Cruz wasn't the only destination to impress the dealchecker team with cheap pint prices. Debrecen in Hungary has also been tipped as a must-visit for Brits thanks to its 89p pints, while Faro in Portugal boats £2.18 beer and Zagreb in Croatia has pints from £2.44.

Rosie Panter, a travel expert at dealchecker, said: "Whilst the UK doesn’t have the highest average price for a pint in Europe – that unwanted honour goes to Iceland at £8.33 a pop – if you’re anything like me, you too will have felt personally victimised by the rising cost.

"For many the idea of a cheeky half or three is now limited to special occasions and vacations. As such it’s well worth considering holiday destinations where the cost is less prohibitive. Just don’t forget to also search out great deals on flights and accommodation so that you have even more spending money to enjoy in destination."
