Portugal is a much-loved travel destination for Brits, thanks in part to its year-round sun, relaxed atmosphere and affordable prices.<\/p>\n

While Lisbon, Portugal, and Faro are particularly popular amongst tourists, these Portuguese cities have been ranked the most affordable thanks to research conducted by Portugal based travel gurus, Porto Travel Guide.<\/p>\n

Analysing online data for 104 Portuguese cities, the experts at Porto Travel Guide determined which locations are the most affordable to visit for a short break.<\/p>\n

The process involved calculating the cost of flights, hotels, local travel, dining out and groceries for each city and then creating an “affordability” score out of 100 for each city.<\/p>\n

The closest international airport to each of the most affordable Portuguese cities in the list is Francisco S\u00e1 Carneiro Airport (Porto Airport), which means they all share the same score for flight costs (10\/10) and car hire costs (9.01\/10) – with the lowest available cost being \u00a39.08 a day.<\/p>\n

The most affordable city in Portugal is the beautiful Fafe, with an affordability score of 87.91 out of 100. This is partly due to the cost of eating out at an inexpensive restaurant, with the lowest price being \u00a33.55 per person.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, a hotel in Fafe could cost as little as just \u00a310.61 a night in some locations.<\/p>\n

Oliveira de Azem\u00e9is is close behind as the second most affordable city in Portugal with an affordability score of 87.85 out of 100.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It shares the lowest hotel price of \u00a310.61 a night with Fafe, but offers cheaper one-way local transport tickets at \u00a31.07. However it is slightly more expensive for taxi tariffs and restaurant meals than Fafe.<\/p>\n

The third most affordable city in Portugal is Vila Nova de Famalic\u00e3o with an affordability score of 87.6 out of 100. Although it is slightly more expensive to eat out here, Vila Nova de Famalic\u00e3o has the lowest hotel prices in the list with rooms starting from just \u00a37.35 a night.<\/p>\n

A one-way local transport ticket costs \u00a30.85, making it one of the cheapest on the list.<\/p>\n

Ovar ranks fourth on the list with an affordability score of 87.55 out of 100. The cheapest hotel rooms start at \u00a311.43, and shares the same one-way transport ticket price as Oliveira de Azem\u00e9is, \u00a31.07.<\/p>\n

It is relatively inexpensive to eat out or buy local food in Ovar.<\/p>\n
