A dad was left fuming after he discovered an airport worker had scrawled a rude message on his baby\u2019s suitcase after the family checked in "late" for their flight.<\/p>\n
He discovered the words "c*** stop arriving in late" written in pen on his seven-month-old son\u2019s bag. Dad Mario Lucas, 40, had placed the child\u2019s bag in the hold for a flight home to Cyprus from Stansted Airport.<\/p>\n
He, his wife Serena and their young son had checked in for a Ryanair flight to their destination Paphos just 90 minutes before take-off. While Mario acknowledged that he didn\u2019t go through the process two hours before the journey as recommended he claimed he had done so far closer to the line in the past with no issues. <\/p>\n

Mario added that nobody at the check-in desk at Stansted made any comments about their timing and "everything was fine", he told the Sun. The mad explained that he saw the bag on the reclaim carousel when his wife spotted the note "straight away".<\/p>\n

Mario and Serena believe calling their son the c-word is "outrageous" and "rude". They want Ryanair to replace the luggage which they say was just bought in September. He complained to the airline who investigated with the baggage handling contractors, ABM Blue Handling, at Stansted. The company claimed the incident was "unacceptable". <\/p>\n
They went on to add that the staff member who wrote the note had been let off after an investigation revealed conclusive evidence. ABM Blue Handling told The Sun: "This unacceptable incident was reported by our own team on the day, immediately investigated and following conclusive evidence, the individual involved has been dismissed.<\/p>\n
"Mr Lucas was contacted by the airport and an apology extended. We have a zero-tolerance policy for offensive behaviour, and we want to extend our sincere apologies to Mr Lucas."<\/p>\n

Most airlines and airports to warn you to arrive two hours ahead of your boarding time to leave enough time for check-in, security queues and to get to the gate. However, many people choose to arrive later than this if they believe they will make it to boarding on time \u2013 as Mario and Serena did.<\/p>\n
The Ryanair check-in policy states: "You must check in online at www.ryanair.com and print or download your boarding pass, unless you have a Flexi Plus ticket, in which case you can check in at the airport for free. <\/p>\n
"The check-in desks close strictly 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time unless you are notified otherwise before flight departure. If you do not check-in by then you may be denied boarding without refund."<\/p>\n
You should always take out travel insurance before your holiday. While intentional damage may be covered by your airline or airport, suitcases can often be banged about and ripped by accident.<\/p>\n
If this is the case it is often easier to claim for a new bag, or repairs, on your travel insurance policy rather than approaching the airline. Always double check what is covered in your policy in terms of loss or damage before purchasing it.<\/p>\n
