Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a hotel? Tourists might be shocked to find out what could have happened to their hotel kettle.
The travel expert team at eshores spoke to hotel staff to find out everything tourists should know when they check in.
A spokesperson said: “According to staff, who wish to remain anonymous, you should double check everything you drink in a hotel room.
“Lairy room occupants have been known to add unmentionables into kettles, an item not checked daily by housekeeping.
“Never boil a hotel kettle until you’ve checked inside. You may not get the relaxing cuppa you expected!”

While unwitting hotel guests might think the kettle is cleaned after every traveller, this isn’t always the case.
If hotel cleaning staff are in a rush they might only clean the dirtiest items, such as the toilet and shower.
Guests should check the kettle every time they check in to a hotel room, to make sure there’s not a nasty surprise inside.

The spokesperson added: “Mini bars aren’t safe either. One hotel worker recalls a guest urinating into a bottle from the mini bar and replacing the cap, only to be discovered when the next guest arrived and tried to take a drink! So, when it comes to drinks, check first. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
Mini bar items aren’t usually free for guests, so some travellers might try sneaky ways to get around the charge.
While urinating in a bottle is an extreme option, guests have been known to replace items with water.
Guests should only drink from sealed items and contact reception immediately if they suspect an item has been tampered with.
It’s not just hotel workers who’ve been sharing behind the scenes secrets. A flight attendant told passengers which meal they’d avoid having before a flight.
A pilot also took to Tiktok to share exactly what he does during a long haul flight and why passengers might see him snoozing in a first class seat.
