Ryanair has issued a flight warning for British passengers travelling to and from Italy today (Friday, October 20).
A spokesperson said: “Due to a 24-hour third-party ground handling strike in Italy on Friday, October 20, Ryanair regrets to inform customers that we will be forced to delay/cancel a small number of flights to and from Italy on Friday, October 20.
“Affected customers will be notified via email and advised of their options as soon as possible, and all customers due to fly to and from Italy on Friday, October 20 should check their Ryanair app for updates before travelling to the airport.
“We sincerely apologise to customers for their third-party ground handling strike, which is outside of our control and affects all airlines travelling to and from Italy on Friday, October 20.”
Workers across several industries in Italy are taking part in a national general strike called by several trade unions.

Unions have said workers are striking over working hours and contracts and public transport is also likely to be disrupted.
Rail services will likely see disruption while buses, metro and tram services in Rome could also be affected.
Passengers with a cancelled or delayed flight due to the strike should be notified by their airline.

British tourists are advised to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport on a flight tracker app.
Ryanair issued a warning to British tourists earlier this week over disruption caused by Storm Babet.
The warning remains in place on October 20 for passengers travelling to and from Ireland. Flights could be impacted by heavy rain and strong winds.

Trains, planes and ferries have already been impacted by Storm Babet which saw a red weather warning in place for parts of eastern Scotland.
Loganair said it was offering passengers flying to and from Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Kirkwall and Sumburgh the option to adjust their travel plans free of charge.
Passengers are able to rebook their flight for a date up to seven days from their original day of travel.
